Welcome to Estes Park's Rooftop Rodeo Website

The Rooftop Rodeo, where the grandeur of the Rocky Mountains and the All-American sport of Rodeo come together. Located at the Stanley Park Fairgrounds in Estes Park, Colorado the rodeo arena is surrounded by world class views in every direction. As the sun sets over the Continental Divide, your attention is drawn to one of the great traditions of the American west...RODEO!  It's a show you don't want to miss.

Other events and activities associated with the Rooftop Rodeo offer something for everyone.  The annual Memorial Day weekend Antique Show kicks off the summer rodeo season with unique treasures offered by vendors from around the country.  It’s a great way to start your summer season in beautiful Estes Park, Colorado.

Rodeo week officially begins on July 10 with the annual Rooftop Rodeo Parade.  With over 70 entries it is a colorful start to a fun-filled week that includes Wednesday's cancer benefit golf tournament held on one of the most scenic 18 hole golf courses in the country.  Surround yourself with the majestic Rocky Mountains as you compete for great prizes.  On Friday night after the rodeo, kick up your heels at the annual Queen’s Dance featuring talented, local musicians and country bands.  But first!  New for 2011, head over to Performance Park Monday night, July 11th at 7 p.m. to enjoy the music of local singing cowboy Ron Ball.

Seven different events, each one featuring some of PRCA's best cowboys and cowgirls, are performed each night of the Rooftop Rodeo. Bareback bronc riding, team roping, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, steer wrestling, barrel racing and the ever-popular bull riding are the standard-fare rodeo events. For the youngest cowboys and cowgirls, the Rooftop Rodeo also features a crowd-pleasing mutton bustin competetion and on Friday and Saturday nights, a calf scramble for cowpokes 8-12 years of age.

Voted PRCA's "Best Small Rodeo of the Year" for five of the last eight years, The Rooftop Rodeo is known for its small town western hospitality and family-friendly atmosphere.  Come visit and join in the fun, it's a rodeo you don't want to miss; we’ll be happy to see ya and most of all………”LET’S RODEO”!

Howell Wright, PresidentA Note from our President, Howell F Wright:

You did it! Rooftop Rodeo 2011 is, unfortunately in the past but what a fantastic rodeo it was!  Why do I say “you” did it? Simple answer is:
a. If you were a rodeo fan or a visitor to Estes Park who just happened to come to the rodeo you came in record numbers. You provided the revenue (gate receipts and rodeo merchandize purchases) to help keep our operation in the black and you gave those of us who work on the rodeo all year the chance to help provide you with top notch entertainment;
b. If you were cowboy or cowgirl competitor you really made our rodeo exciting and you helped provide our fans and visitors a true cowboy experience. You could have gone to another rodeo and competed for more money but you came to the Rooftop and we truly appreciate your being such an important part of the “Rooftop Experience;”
c. If you were an advertiser, sponsor, or donor, national or local well, quite frankly I just do not know how to adequately thank you for what you did for the Rooftop. We want to continue to learn how to be better partners with our financial supporters-the Rooftop simply would not happen without you;
d. Thanks to those of you who are residents of Estes Park and Northern Colorado who support us formally but more importantly for the informal discussions you have with your friends and colleagues where you ”talk up” the Rooftop-we hear about what you do for us and we want you to know that the Rooftop truly is your “professional sports organization.”
e. Thanks to Powder River Rodeo Productions who produce our rodeo and provide animal athletes that challenge the very best of our cowboy athletes. Also, thanks to the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) for providing the framework within which our sport flourishes.
Finally, the ”you” refers to our biggest sponsor- the Town of Estes Park. We have, unquestionably, the most fantastic setting for a rodeo anywhere in America, we have facilities that are top notch and each year just get better, and that all happens because we have Town leaders who support the Rooftop and the Rodeo Committee.

Do you get a feeling that it takes all of you to put on a world class rodeo-well it surely does-THANK YOU!

News Flash – The Rooftop is now considered a Medium size rodeo. More to come on what this means. Folks remember if it is rodeo, and if it is July, you just have to be in Estes Park Colorado for the Rodeo with Altitude – the Rooftop Rodeo. Stay tuned for Rooftop Rodeo updates and I will see you in person next summer July 10-15, 2012. “Keep the wind to your back and a smile on your face.” Howell
