Alex Hyland - 2012 Rooftop Rodeo Queen
Alex Hyland is thrilled to serve as the 2012 Rooftop Rodeo Queen.
Alex is a junior at Windsor High School where she is a varsity track
athlete and a FFA Member. As a freshman Alex ran at State and helped her
team mates bring home the State Championship in Girls 4-A Track and
Field. After several years in Larimer County 4-H, showing horses and
cattle, Alex now focuses on barrel racing. She has also held the titles
of the Greeley Saddle Club 2009 Princess and 2010 Queen. She competes in
Colorado Junior Rodeo and has won several gymkhana awards. Her parents
are Pete and Nancy Hyland of Windsor and Alex has two big brothers, Jake
and Zane. Grandparents (the late) Tom and Jane Hyland lived in Estes
Park for many years. Alex enjoys representing the Rooftop Rodeo
especially while riding her 16 hand high, Paint Horse, Buckaroo. She is
looking forward to a new Rodeo season and having fun with Lady in
Waiting, Michelle Claypool.
Michelle Claypool - 2012 Rooftop Rodeo Lady-in-Waiting
Hi,
my name is Michelle Claypool and I am blessed to call Estes Park my
hometown. I am very excited to be representing the Rooftop Rodeo as
your 2012 Lady-in-Waiting. I am the daughter of Mike and Kelly
Claypool, and the younger sister to Katharine.
I am 15 years old and a freshman at Estes Park High School.
Currently I am a member of the high school Student Council and
Rotary’s Interact Club. I have also been involved in volleyball,
soccer, as well as a manager for the girl’s basketball team, and am
a former participant of the Junior National Young Leadership program
in Washington DC.
I have always had a love of horses which has grown into a love for
rodeo. I was a Rooftop Rodeo Princess in 2007 and a most recently a
Senior Princess in 2011 and I am thrilled for the opportunity to
travel to other rodeos around Colorado representing and encouraging
people to come my hometown of Estes Park and experience our award
winning Rodeo! I hope you will join me in the many aspects that
rodeo has to offer because there truly is something for everyone to
enjoy. I can’t wait to see you all in the stands this summer!

Rooftop Royalty Program
The Royalty program is designed to provide an opportunity
for area youth between the ages of 11 and 17 to learn about the
sport of rodeo and promote the rooftop rodeo while developing their
communication skills. Girls and boys involved in the program
work behind the scenes and promote the rodeo in Estes Park during
rodeo week. In addition, they participate in the rodeo parade
and opening ceremonies at the fairground arena each evening during

The Rooftop Rodeo Queen and Attendants love to travel to other Rodeos, Fairs and Parades. They are also available
to speak at clubs or organizations. If you would like to invite them to your event we would be happy to hear from you. Please call
the Estes Park Fairgrounds at 970-586-6104. Events currently attended by our Royalty include the Mountain States Rodeo Finals, Estes Park
Catch the Glow Parade, National Western Stock Show and Rodeo, Miss Rodeo Colorado clinic, Elizabeth Stampede, Greeley Independence
Stampede, Cheyenne Frontier Days, Larimer County Fair and Rodeo, and the Boulder County Fair and Rodeo.
